we had a been trying for a week to get a sensible quote to deliver a bike to Spain normally its not such a problem as we arrange this sort of thing around other deliveries going over their, but this bike was a bit of a rush it had to be delivered as quickly as possible the new owner had to prepare the bike ready for the Dakar Rally. So the decision was made to take a tail riding holiday in the Pyrenees. It didn't take long to find another two people to come along sharing a cabin on the Portsmouth to Bilboa ferry sharing a Mobile home for a week and this is the blow by blow account.

typical of any trip away the last few days where a bit of a rush around new tyres on trailer cooking and packing food trailer packed clothing packed and just generally loads of things to be done but everything was coming together nicely. I was supposed to have collected Peter's bike and kit the night before we set off 2/10/02 but with the pressures of work nothing got done about that side of the organization. The night before I was expecting Doug to arrive with his camper van from Scotland and camp on the drive ready for a early morning start late in the night (around 21-30) a phone call came through from Doug he'd ran out of fuel in the van so luckily he was almost in Newcastle unluckily he didn't really know where he was just after midnight I had found him we put some diesel in and the van tow started in next to no time back in time for a coffee and a couple of hours sleep.

Saturday 2/11/02 the sun must have come up and it may have been lovely but I never had time to see any sunrise at all I was up very early had a shower packed the fresh food into the cool bag and clothing and washing gear for the journey into the camper van took the bike off the back of the van and loaded it into the trailer. We then set of to Peter's house he's one of these guys who whenever you call he's got the bike outside with him running around putting his kit into his bags. So I was a little worried when we turned up there was no bike parked outside we quickly got shown to the garage where the door was opened bike pushed towards the exit of the garage and as tools where being scooped up by the handful off benches shelves and the floor and dumped in a what seemed a enormous rucksack the bike was rolled away and stowed in the trailer then the frantic packing moved into the house with hands that seemed to work like a digger scoop at a large quarry 1/2 a hour later and bags loaded we where on the move only along to Peter's significant other half's burger van for breakfast.
